Location: Houston, TX

We are working with a leading provider of engineering, construction, and infrastructure solutions, supporting some of the most complex energy, utility, industrial, and infrastructure projects across North America. They are seeking a talented attorney to join their growing legal team in Houston. This opportunity is ideal for an associate with a strong foundation in corporate transactions, M&A, or commercial contracting who is looking to transition into a commercially focused, in-house legal role supporting large-scale infrastructure and EPC projects.

If you’ve developed exceptional drafting and negotiation skills at a leading law firm and are looking for greater business involvement, direct stakeholder interaction, and ownership of sophisticated commercial agreements, this opportunity could be very interesting for you.

While prior construction law experience is welcome, it is not required. We are primarily looking for attorneys with outstanding drafting ability, strong commercial judgment, and the willingness to learn the legal and commercial aspects of the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) industry.

Responsibilities:

  • Draft, review, and negotiate a broad range of commercial agreements, including EPC contracts, subcontracts, purchase orders, master service agreements, and supplier agreements.
  • Partner with project, commercial, procurement, and operations teams throughout project execution.
  • Support negotiations throughout the project lifecycle, including amendments, change orders, claims, and dispute avoidance.
  • Work closely with senior members of the legal team on strategic commercial initiatives and complex negotiations.

Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Licensed to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
  • 3+ years experience at a leading law firm or sophisticated in-house legal department.
  • Experience in M&A, corporate transactions, private equity, finance, commercial contracts, or another drafting-intensive transactional practice.
  • An interest in learning the legal and commercial framework of the construction, EPC, or infrastructure sectors.
