A prominent Amsterdam-based law firm is looking to appoint a Banking & Finance Associate (5–8 years’ experience) to support the continued growth of its finance practice. This opportunity offers exposure to sophisticated domestic and cross-border transactions, working closely with both lenders and borrowers across a wide range of sectors.
Position: Banking & Finance Associate (5–8 PQE)
Location: Amsterdam, Netherlands (Hybrid working available)
About the Role:
You will work on a broad mix of financing matters, advising clients on acquisition finance, leveraged finance, real estate finance, project finance, structured finance, and alternative lending transactions.
The role offers significant involvement throughout the full transaction lifecycle — from structuring and drafting through to negotiation and closing. You will work closely with clients, counterparties, and multidisciplinary teams, taking on meaningful responsibility from the outset.
Alongside transaction work, you will play an active role in mentoring junior lawyers, contributing to business development initiatives, and helping shape the continued growth of the practice.
Key Responsibilities:
- Advise lenders, borrowers, sponsors, and corporates on financing transactions
- Draft and negotiate finance documentation, including LMA-based loan agreements, security documentation, intercreditor agreements, and direct agreements
- Support complex domestic and cross-border transactions from origination through to closing
- Advise on financing structures, security packages, and related legal matters
- Prepare legal opinions and transaction documentation
- Mentor junior team members and contribute to knowledge sharing within the team
Key Projects Will Include:
- Sponsor-backed acquisition financings
- Real estate and infrastructure financing transactions
- Structured and non-bank financing matters
- Cross-border refinancing and restructuring mandates
- Complex transactions involving multiple stakeholders and jurisdictions
What You Bring
- Dutch Master’s degree in Law
- Approximately 5–8 years’ experience within Banking & Finance
- Strong experience with financing transactions and LMA documentation
- Exposure to both lender-side and borrower-side work is preferred
- Solid understanding of property law, private international law, and insolvency law
- Experience with restructuring matters is advantageous
- Commercial mindset with strong analytical and communication skills
- Fluent in Dutch and English, both written and spoken
