Senior Reinsurance Counsel
Associate General Counsel – Reinsurance About the Role We are seeking an experienced reinsurance attorney to support ceded reinsurance placements and related transactions for a growing international specialty insurance organization. Reporting to the Group General Counsel, you will provide legal guidance on reinsurance agreements, collateral arrangements, regulatory matters, and strategic transactions.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft, negotiate, and manage reinsurance agreements and related documentation.
- Advise on collateral structures, trust agreements, and risk transfer arrangements.
- Support complex reinsurance transactions, including captive and alternative risk transfer programs.
- Manage reinsurance disputes, commutations, and regulatory matters.
- Partner with reinsurers, brokers, external counsel, and internal stakeholders.
- Develop legal templates, governance frameworks, and best practices.
Qualifications
- JD and active admission in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
- 10+ years of legal experience with a strong focus on reinsurance transactions.
- Extensive experience negotiating reinsurance contracts and related agreements.
- Strong commercial judgment, drafting skills, and ability to manage complex matters independently.
